With the kitchen being the most used room in the house, there are a number of kitchen themes that are very popular. Themes such as galley, oak, traditional and the latest being modular are often chosen for many kitchens of today.
When it's time to design a new one or update an old one, choosing a theme can be challenge as you want it to blend with the rest of your home.
It is a given, we love our kitchens. We cook, we eat, we do homework and socialize all in our kitchens. It has become the hub of our homes where everyone tends to gather. We need sufficient storage, ample counter space and enough room for several people to be busy and not be on each other's toes.
Easy changes are those that can be changed out just by removing an item and replacing it. Items such as towels, dinnerware and decorative items that are stored on the countertop.
If you have the basic drab kitchen and can't afford to do a complete remodel, there are ways that you can make simple changes so that it looks more like that theme that you want.
You may choose to make simple changes or you can make more dramatic changes. The sky is the limit when you use your imagination.

Color, texture, materials and furniture can all be used together and create a theme that you have been longing to have in your kitchen.
Paint or stain are one of the quickest and cheapest ways to make huge changes in the kitchen. The prep work may take some time, but the end result will be well worth it. Some other super easy changes that you can do are the cabinet and drawer handles and pulls.
By adding or changing out the old ones, an instant new look is achieved. There are literally hundreds of different styles to choose from and you are sure to find some that will fit your intended theme.
If your current kitchen is a basic white, the kitchen themes you could choose from could be a French country kitchen, a contemporary/modern kitchen or an ocean side kitchen.
A French country kitchen is light and airy with perhaps a touch of light accent colors in greens and/or browns like you would find in the country. A contemporary kitchen would be clean and sleek with little to no color.
If you don't think that your current kitchen has a theme, it could simply be an eclectic theme. By the way, a messy kitchen is not considered a theme. Starting from scratch or changing what you already have can be fun and adventurous.
